DC’s INFNITE CRISIS #4 will be out any moment now! IC is actually a sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC’s amazing reboot back in 1986.
This blog entry will be dealing with my recap/review of past IC issues and my IC4 predictions.
First, the Recap:
Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman search the ruins of the Watchtower for any sign of the martian, but they fail. They get into some really big fight with each other and the Justice League disbands, but not before Batman wears down Superman’s self-esteem (”Let’s face it Superman, the last time you really inspired anyone was when you were dead.”) Meanwhile, heroes die needlessly because of the chaos the OMACs cause. A mysterious observer comments how the affairs on Earth have deteriorated and that even the heroes act like villains. It is time to interfere, he says. The mysterious observer is revealed to be the Superman of Earth-2 (the ORIGINAL Supes who first appeared in 1938 ), who last apperead waaaaaaay back in 1986 when Earth-2 was destroyed. He is accompanied by Lois Lane of Earth-2 (his wife), Superboy of Earth-Prime, and Alexander Luthor Jr. of Earth-3.
Feedback: He’s back! GO! GO! GO!
Badass Points: **** (out of 5)
Meanwhile, the OMACs keep on slaughtering superheroes like crazy.
Feedback: Wait a minute… won’t that KILL EVERYONE ON EARTH, SUPES?! JUST TO SAVE YOUR WIFE?! YOU’RE CRAZY!!!
…and the plot is slow. It’s just full of flashbacks.

…none other than Superboy of Earth-Prime.
Meanwhile, the Lex Luthor who is heading the Society is revealed to be… ALEXANDER LUTHOR JR. of Earth-3. He almost succeeds in killing the real Lex Luthor. It is revealed that they have been interferring in events on Earth WAY before Supes-2 returned.
And Alex Luthor Jr. and Superboy-Prime have a plan… a VERY evil plan… something that Supes-2 doesn’t know about….
Feedback: Whoa. Who do I cheer for now?!?!

INFINITE CRISIS #4 and beyond PREDICTIONS:
And check out the Jim Lee IC#4 cover:

Sweet.
[1] Actually, I was lost during the first issue, and I actually had to read the countdown and the mini-series. OK, i LIMEWIRED it, but it still counts.
and i hated the way the blue beetle died. was it really necessary?!
actually, i like IC for the sole reason of Superman-2 returning.
Posted by ade at January 19, 2006, 10:30 amHey, which issues would you recommend to follow IC? Should I just wait for the TPB? Or will that give me very small slice of what IC is? Having a bit of trouble choosing which titles to follow.
Posted by Adam Mordo at January 24, 2006, 2:22 am[3] hm…. of course, i'd recommend IC proper, but to get a grasp of what is going on, you should read the ff mini-series:
- OMAC project
- Rann-Thanagar War
- Return of Donna Troy
- Day of Vengeance
- Villains United
And it also helps if you have the Countdown to IC, and Identity Crisis as well.
If that's too much, you can just go to Wikipedia. Hehehehe…

I've never been a fan of massive crossover events but I do see them as a necessary evil. I'm not too happy about Infinite Crisis though. Too many things going on and yet too little action to really sink my teeth into. Character driven stories are also nearly impossible to do as IC tackles so many characters at once. I'm also a bit averse to the fact that it somehow alienates newer re3aders. I like the OMACs though and the return of Donna Troy! And at least IC is far more interesting than Marvel's House of M. Just my two cents if you don't mind.
